The Hello Clever MCP connects your Hello Clever merchant account to Claude or ChatGPT. Once you connect it, you can ask Claude/ChatGPT about your payments in plain language and it answers from your live account data, not from guesswork. You can also ask Claude/ChatGPT to do things for you, such as create a payment link or set up a campaign.

Description

The Hello Clever MCP is a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server that gives Claude/ChatGPT self-serve access to your own Hello Clever merchant account. It works the same way on both platforms. Who it’s for: Hello Clever merchants, and the finance, operations, marketing, and support staff who work in their Merchant Portal. What you can do with it:

Check your money

See balances, processing fees, settlements, and payouts.

Investigate transactions

Look up payments, see why they failed, and find your top and repeat customers.

Export data

Get a report, such as last month’s transactions, sent to your email.

Run campaigns

Create and manage cashback and stamp campaigns, and see how they perform.

Get paid

Create payment links and send payment requests to customers.

Top-up details

Get the bank details to top up an account from outside Hello Clever.
You ask in Claude/ChatGPT, and it decides which Hello Clever tool to call, runs it against your account, and explains the result. There is nothing to install and no API key to manage. Every request is locked to your own merchant account. The server cannot read or change any other merchant’s data.
This is a different server from the Docs MCP Server. The Docs MCP Server reads our public documentation and never sees account data. The server on this page works with your account data, so it needs you to sign in.

Features

Money movement and account management

Transactions and reporting

Campaigns

Customer-facing checkout

Actions that change your account

Most of what the Hello Clever MCP does is read your data. These features create or change something: Before any of these runs, Claude/ChatGPT shows you the details and asks you to approve the action. Read the details before you approve, in particular the amount, currency, and customer. We recommend keeping this approval step turned on for Hello Clever. The Hello Clever MCP cannot request settlements, send payouts, issue refunds, or change your account settings or users. To settle funds, use the Merchant Portal.

Setup

You need an active Hello Clever merchant account and a Claude or ChatGPT account. The steps are the same on both platforms.
1

Open the Connectors Directory

In Claude, go to claude.com/connectors. In ChatGPT, go to chatgpt.com/plugins.
2

Find Hello Clever

Search for Hello Clever and select it, then click Connect.
3

Sign in with Hello Clever

A Hello Clever sign-in window opens. Sign in with the email and password you use for the Merchant Portal, and complete two-factor authentication if your account uses it.
4

Approve access

Review the access Claude/ChatGPT is requesting, then approve it. You return to Claude/ChatGPT, and Hello Clever shows as connected.
5

Ask your first question

Start a new conversation and ask something like “What’s my current balance across all my payment accounts?”. If Claude/ChatGPT does not use it, check that Hello Clever is turned on for the conversation. See Troubleshooting.

Disconnect

To remove access in Claude, open Settings, then Connectors, select Hello Clever, and click Disconnect. In ChatGPT, go to chatgpt.com/plugins, select Hello Clever, and disconnect it. Claude/ChatGPT can no longer reach your account until you connect again.

Authentication

  • Account required: an active Hello Clever merchant account. If you do not have one yet, see Create a merchant account.
  • Sign-in method: OAuth 2.0, using your existing Hello Clever login. You never give Claude/ChatGPT your password: you sign in on a Hello Clever page, and Claude/ChatGPT receives an access token.
  • What Claude/ChatGPT can reach: only the merchant account you signed in to. Every request the server handles is locked to that merchant, and it cannot read or change any other merchant’s data.
  • Revoking access: disconnect Hello Clever in Claude/ChatGPT, as described in Disconnect.

Usage examples

Each example shows the prompt you type, what the server does, and the kind of answer you get back. The examples work the same way in Claude and ChatGPT.
The figures, rates, references, and names in these examples are made up for illustration. Your answers use your own account data.

Example 1: Check sales and fees

Prompt
What happens Claude/ChatGPT searches your successful AUD transactions over the last 30 days and totals them. It also reads the processing fees configured on your account. Expected output Total sales and transaction count for the period, and your fee rates by payment method. For example:
Over the last 30 days (8 September to 7 October 2026), your AUD account processed 1,284 successful transactions totalling A$248,930.50 in sales. Your configured processing fees are:
Try follow-ups such as “Compare that with the previous 30 days” or “Show the same for my USD account”.

Example 2: Look up a transaction

Prompt
What happens Claude/ChatGPT searches your transactions for the reference ABC123. The server returns the matching record. Expected output The status, amount, and date of the payment, plus the failure reason if it did not succeed. For example:
The payment with reference ABC123 did not go through. It was an A$149.00 Payin created on 3 October 2026 at 2:41 pm, and its status is Failed. The reason given is that the payment expired before the customer completed it. No funds reached your account.
To see a pattern rather than one payment, ask “Why are my payments failing this week?” for a breakdown by reason.

Example 3: Check account balances

Prompt
What happens Claude/ChatGPT asks the server for the latest balance of each of your accounts. The server returns one balance per account and currency. Expected output The balance of each account, with its currency. For example:
Here are your current balances:
To learn how these accounts work, see Payments Accounts. Prompt
What happens Claude/ChatGPT prepares a payment link for A$89.00 with the description “Gift box” and asks you to approve it. Once you approve, the server creates the link on your AUD account and returns it. Expected output The new link, ready to share. For example:
I’ve created a payment link for A$89.00 (“Gift box”), paid into your AUD Payments Account: https://paylink.cleverhub.co/abc123xyz The link is reusable, so you can share it with as many customers as you like.
To bill one specific customer instead, ask “Send Jane Citizen a payment request for A$240 for her October invoice”.

More prompts to try

  • “Which of my customers spent the most this quarter, and how many of them are repeat customers?”
  • “How did my cashback campaign perform last month?”
  • “Set up a stamp campaign: buy 9 coffees, get the 10th free, starting next Monday.”
  • “When was my last settlement, and has it arrived?”
  • “What bank details do I use to top up my AUD account?”
  • “Email me a CSV of all September transactions.”

Privacy policy

Your use of the Hello Clever MCP is covered by the Hello Clever Privacy Policy. It explains what personal information we collect, how we use and store it, and how to contact us about it. When you use the Hello Clever MCP:
  • The server only works with your own merchant account. It does not grant any access beyond your existing permissions.
  • The data the server returns to answer a question, such as transaction amounts, references, customer names, and balances, is sent to Claude/ChatGPT. Your conversations are governed by that platform’s privacy policy: Anthropic’s privacy policy for Claude, and OpenAI’s privacy policy for ChatGPT.
  • Hello Clever does not receive the text of your conversations with Claude/ChatGPT. We only receive the requests the server needs to answer you or carry out an action.
  • Actions you approve, such as payment links, payment requests, and campaigns, are recorded on your account in the same way as if you had created them in the Merchant Portal.
For more on how we protect your data, see How we handle data.

Support

Report an issue

If the Hello Clever MCP does not work as expected, contact us through the contact page and include:
  • The prompt you used and roughly when you sent it
  • What you expected, and what you got instead
  • Your merchant name or ID (never your password)
  • Whether you used Claude or ChatGPT, and any error message it showed
If you did not mean to create a payment link, payment request, or campaign, tell us straight away. If an answer looks wrong, check it against the Merchant Portal, which is always the source of truth for your account.

Troubleshooting

Check that Hello Clever shows as connected. In Claude, look in Settings, then Connectors, and turn it on for the conversation in the tools menu. In ChatGPT, check chatgpt.com/plugins, then click + in the message box and select Hello Clever for the chat. Naming the source in your prompt also helps, for example “Using Hello Clever, what’s my AUD balance?”.
Large exports can take a few minutes. Check your spam folder, then ask Claude/ChatGPT to run the export again.
The Hello Clever MCP only works with the merchant account you signed in to. Sign in to the Merchant Portal with the same user and check that the account or transaction appears there.
Allow pop-ups for claude.ai or chatgpt.com, then try connecting again. If your Merchant Portal password was recently reset, sign in to the portal once first.
Your access may have expired or been revoked. Disconnect Hello Clever in Claude/ChatGPT, then connect it again.
AI-generated answers can contain errors. Before you act on a figure for accounting, reconciliation, or a customer refund, confirm it in the Merchant Portal. Always check the details before you approve an action.
